What is teff

Teff (Eragrostis tef) is an ancient grain, native to Ethiopia and Eritrea, untouched by genetic engineering for thousands of years. It has been used by Ethiopians since 1000 BC, such as in the making of injera, but has only recently been rediscovered and exported to the Western market. Apart from being gluten-free, the grain’s properties (e.g. rich in minerals such as calcium and iron, and high in protein, carbohydrates, and fiber) make it one of the healthiest grains available on the market. It can be used on a daily basis by sports-people, or regular consumers alike, through its incredible versatility. It can be used to make tastier and healthier products of any regular wheat product, such as porridge, breakfast cereals, and drinks or shakes. It can also be used as a flour to replace regular wheat flour to bake bread, pastries and cookies. Apart from teff grains and teff flour, Millets Place also offers derivatives such as teff flakes and teff puffs.

Why us

What is fonio?

Millets Place has recently added a new grain to its product offering: Fonio. It shares many of the properties of teff, such as being gluten-free, authentic and healthy. The biggest differences are its taste (being of a more nutty flavor) and its applications (often used for a couscous-like meal).
